About me

 EB facing 2a

Hello! My name is Elizabeth Baker and I run Tillytoo Tales.  I'm based in the North East of England and most of my work is in this area, however, I travel all over the country for specific storytelling or heritage interpretation projects.

I work as a freelance storyteller in a range of settings including schools, museums, churches, libraries, heritage sites and outdoor settings.

I also work as an education consultant for museums, churches, heritage sites and local authorities (see Heritage interpretation for the range of services I can offer).

Here's a bit of background information about me:

I have a BEd (Hons) degree in primary education with a specialism in expressive arts.

For 21 years I worked in heritage education: 15 years in charge of the education service at Durham Cathedral (during which time it achieved a Sandford Award for excellence in Heritage Education); and, before that, 6 years in charge of education at Bede's World Museum (developing a range of education programmes for the museum and church and establishing the first programmes for the reconstructed Anglo-Saxon farm site and new museum).

During my career I have taught children of all ages and abilities, developed creative resources to enhance their learning, worked with and trained teachers and trainee teachers and discovered a love of telling stories.

I have written stories for heritage organisations, religious education professionals and teachers.  I have told stories in heritage sites and schools to thousands of children.
